Unitree Targets $7.4 Billion Valuation in Upcoming Shanghai IPO

Hangzhou-based robotics firm Unitree Technology is bracing for a valuation exceeding 50 billion yuan, or $7.4 billion, following its planned initial public offering in Shanghai. Citic Securities, the lead sponsor for the listing, projects the company’s market worth will climb significantly within a year of its debut later this month.

The company intends to raise 4.2 billion yuan through the offering, earmarking the capital to accelerate production and research into humanoid and quadruped robotics. Citic Securities justifies the high valuation—roughly 20 times expected sales and 80 times forecast earnings—by positioning Unitree as a dominant force in the global embodied intelligence sector. The firm currently competes directly with heavyweights like Boston Dynamics and Tesla.

This capital push arrives as Washington intensifies scrutiny over Chinese tech firms. In June, the U.S. Department of Commerce added Unitree to a list of entities suspected of supporting Beijing’s military objectives. Furthermore, new U.S. equipment authorization rules have effectively restricted the company's ability to sell advanced robotic hardware stateside. Despite these geopolitical headwinds, Unitree is moving forward with its timeline, setting its IPO price this Thursday before opening investor subscriptions on Friday.
