JPMorgan's Jamie Dimon rallies industry coalition to counter AI threats

JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon is spearheading an aggressive push to unify corporate leadership against the mounting dangers of artificial intelligence. By expanding the Alliance for Critical Infrastructure, Dimon aims to create a cross-sector defense network capable of identifying systemic vulnerabilities before they are exploited by bad actors.

The initiative, which began outreach in July, has already contacted over 40 major firms across sectors including energy, telecommunications, aviation, and finance. The goal is to transform the Alliance for Critical Infrastructure from a broad resilience group into a specialized hub for AI safety, with plans to reach full operational capacity by the end of the year. Participants intend to establish a framework for sharing intelligence on emerging threats and coordinating technical safeguards.

This move follows a string of high-profile cyberattacks on essential U.S. utility systems, which highlighted the fragility of current infrastructure. Dimon has been increasingly vocal about the potential for advanced models like Anthropic's Mythos to be weaponized, famously comparing unrestricted access to such power to the proliferation of ballistic missiles. The coalition plans to work directly with the federal government to align private sector security measures with national oversight, ensuring that the rapid deployment of AI does not outpace the ability to protect the systems that underpin the American economy.
