From Corporate Burnout to Beverly Hills Property Development

After a decade of corporate fatigue, one professional traded a predictable salary for the volatile world of real estate. After a decade of corporate fatigue, one professional traded a predictable salary for the volatile world of real estate. Partnering with his mother in their firm, JAREST, LLC, he found that the friction of working with family—once a source of stress—became the primary engine driving their most ambitious projects.

The transition began in June 2020 with a single side project. What started as a plan to renovate a home with a construction loan transformed into a 50/50 partnership. By February 2023, the duo had successfully completed an expansion of nearly 1,200 square feet, providing the tangible satisfaction that years of office work had failed to deliver. The decision to leave his career became final after a 2024 retreat at The Golden Door, where conversations with veteran CEOs shifted his perspective on risk.

Operating JAREST, LLC brought immediate challenges. Without the structure of a corporate hierarchy, personal and professional styles collided. The partnership faced intense friction over design choices and capital allocation, notably during a standoff regarding a $15,000 investment in floating stairs and high-end appliances. While these disagreements often escalated into heated debates, they ultimately refined the final product. By balancing his focus on financial constraints with his mother’s eye for value, the pair established a rhythm that successfully guided them toward their current venture: a luxury project in Beverly Hills slated for completion in Spring 2027.
