Citi Recruits Deutsche Bank’s Mansfield to Lead EMEA M&A

William Mansfield is departing Deutsche Bank to spearhead mergers and acquisitions for Citigroup across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. This strategic appointment in London marks a significant shift in Citi's regional leadership structure, following the bank's broader push to aggressively bolster its global investment banking talent.

Mansfield, a veteran dealmaker who previously held senior roles at Credit Suisse, is set to join Citi in September. He will report directly to Global Co-Heads of M&A, Guillermo Baygual and Drago Rajkovic. His arrival triggers a reshuffling of existing leadership: Robin Rousseau, who previously co-led the division, moves into the role of Global Chair of M&A to focus on European cross-border mandates. Barry Weir, his counterpart, shifts to Vice Chair of M&A with a specific mandate for natural resources and UK-based transactions.

This high-profile hire aligns with Citi’s ongoing recruitment efforts initiated under the leadership of Viswas Raghavan, who joined from JPMorgan earlier this year. Deutsche Bank moved swiftly to fill the vacancy left by Mansfield’s departure. Tobias Wagnert, currently the Head of Investment Banking Coverage for EMEA excluding Germany, Switzerland, and Austria, has been named the new Head of EMEA M&A, effective immediately.
