Inside the Multimillion-Dollar Pay Packages at Anthropic

Two technical staff members at AI powerhouse Anthropic have secured base salaries exceeding $1.1 million, federal H-1B visa filings reveal. These staggering figures reflect the intensity of a talent war where top-tier researchers command corporate compensation packages that rival the earnings of elite professional athletes and high-level executives.

The filings for H-1B sponsorships show a wide pay spectrum, with two specific "Member of Technical Staff" roles listed at $1.12 million and $1.38 million. Because the company utilizes this title as a broad internal catch-all, the exact nature of these roles remains opaque, potentially spanning from specialized AI research to senior leadership positions. These figures represent only base pay, excluding the significant bonuses and equity packages tied to Anthropic’s rapid valuation growth, which reached $965 billion earlier this May.

Anthropic’s aggressive hiring strategy comes as the company reportedly prepares for a potential public offering. To secure its position against rivals like Google, Meta, and OpenAI, the lab has consistently pushed to attract and retain specialized talent, even as other tech giants curbed their international visa applications during the second quarter of fiscal 2026. While the company declined to comment, the data underscores why it remains a premier destination for researchers, with stock options providing additional wealth that has helped the firm maintain a higher retention rate than many of its industry peers.
