Datuk Muhammad Azmi Mohd Zain

Datuk Muhammad Azmi Mohd Zain, born on 3 August 1971 in Kelantan, is a distinguished figure in Malaysiancivil service. He completed his undergraduate studies in Economics with Honours from the University of Malaya in 1995, followed by a Master of Social Science in Development Science from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) in 2012.

His career in public service began in 1996 as an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer, starting as an Assistant Director in the Economic Planning Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department. Over the years, he has held various significant positions, including roles at the Public Service Department and the Ministry of Federal Territories. Notably, he served as President of Perbadanan Putrajaya from 1 October 2020 to 15 December 2021. Currently, he is the Director General of Lands and Mines.

Datuk Muhammad Azmi’s contributions to public service have been recognised withmultiple awards, including the Kesatria Mahkota Wilayah in 2009 and the Panglima Mahkota Wilayah in 2018. He has also been honoured with the Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang on several occasions and the title of Mejar Kehormat Askar Wataniah in 2020.

In addition to his civil service roles, Datuk Muhammad Azmi has been actively involved in variousprofessional and communityorganisations. He is a member of the Persatuan Perkhidmatan Tadbir dan Diplomatik (PPTD) and the Kelab Kebajikan dan Sukan Kementerian Wilayah Persekutuan, among others.

Since 4 January 2023, Datuk Muhammad Azmi has been serving as a Commission Member of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), where he recently stepped into the role of interim chairman. His extensive experience and contributions continue to influence Malaysia’s public administration landscape.
