Mark Schneider is a business executive and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) ofNestlé, a global food and beverage company.He assumed the role in January 2017and has been instrumental in leading the company's efforts to enhance the quality of life through food. With Nestlé's extensive portfolio ofover 2,000 brandsand a workforce of275,000 associates in 188 countries, Mark strives to make a positive impact worldwide.
Under Mark's leadership, Nestlé has sharpened its strategic focus on high-growth categories such as coffee, pet care, and nutritional health products. He has worked closely with the company's Board and executive team to drive innovation and expedite the launch of new products to meet the evolving needs of consumers. Mark actively engages with his team in exploring and developing healthy, delicious, and nutritious offerings, often sampling the products himself.
An advocate for sustainability, Mark has played a key role in Nestlé's commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The company aimsto halve its emissions by 2030 and achieve net zero emissions by 2050. Mark is particularly passionate about promoting regenerative agriculture as part of the transition to a low-carbon future. He also focuses on supporting farming communities within Nestlé's supply chain.
Before joining Nestlé,Mark served as the CEO of the Fresenius Group, a global healthcare company, from 2003 to 2016. He initially joined Fresenius in 2001 as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Fresenius Medical Care. Prior to that,he held various senior executive positions with the Haniel Group, a diversified German multinational company, from 1989 to 2001.
Mark's expertise and leadership extend beyond Nestlé. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Nestlé S.A. and Roche Holding Ltd, two prominent multinational companies. Additionally, he serves on the Board of Trustees and International Business Council of the World Economic Forum (WEF) and the European Round Table for Industry. Mark is also a member of the Board of the Consumer Goods Forum.
Mark Schneider holds a graduate degree in Finance and Accounting as well as a doctoral degree in Business Administration from the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland. He further earned an MBA from Harvard University. While originally from Germany, Mark became a United States citizen in 2003.
