R. M. Chitnis
Dr. R. M. Chitnis currently serves as Vice Chancellor atMIT World Peace University(MIT WPU), having held this position since September 2021. With over three decades of experience in education, Dr. Chitnis has made significant contributions to various academic institutions, particularly in leadership roles at MIT WPU and Savitribai Phule Pune University (formerly University of Pune). He previously served as Pro Vice Chancellor of MIT WPU and held positions such as Pro Vost, Chairman of Management UG Programmes, and Director of International Collaboration.
Dr. Chitnis holds a PhD in Banking and Finance from Savitribai Phule Pune University, alongside an MCom and an MDBA from the Institute of Management Development and Research, Pune. He has also obtained an MPhil in Finance and Financial Management Services. Recognised as a PhD research guide by multiple universities, including VU University in Amsterdam, Savitribai Phule Pune University, and Symbiosis International University, Dr. Chitnis has guided numerous doctoral students.
He has contributed to the development of internationalisation at MIT WPU, establishing partnerships with global institutions and leading initiatives such asInternational Summer Schoolsand Business Simulation Programmes. Dr. Chitnis has authored over 11 national and international research publications and written 11 books. He has also been involved in several national and internationalresearch projects.
The other leadership roles that Dr. Chitnis has held include being the Chairman of the NAAC Peer Team for accreditation and Academic Peer Reviewer on the QS International University Rating System, and being part of the UGC Committee for the STRIDE programme.
Recognised for his contributions to education, he has received awards including the Best Teacher Award by the Higher Education Forum of India and the Ideal Citizen Award from Pune Municipal Corporation.
