How Three Interns Converted Their Tinder Roles into Full-Time Careers

With Tinder’s internship program attracting 30,000 applicants for only 27 spots, securing a full-time offer requires more than just technical proficiency. Three former interns who successfully transitioned to permanent roles reveal that leveraging their identity as Gen Z users and proactively pitching their own value were the keys to standing out.

Ryan Stewart, now a brand marketing manager, utilized his position in the smaller London office to build cross-departmental relationships. He prioritized scheduling one-on-one meetings with senior directors to demonstrate curiosity, eventually securing his role by pitching a position he created based on gaps he observed during his tenure. Stewart emphasizes that approaching leadership with genuine interest, rather than fear, remains the most effective way to gain internal visibility.

For backend software engineer Eric Brandon Kam, the strategy involved blending technical expertise with a deep understanding of the product. By applying engineering principles learned at Stanford and advocating for long-term code health rather than merely completing assigned tickets, he demonstrated the ownership Tinder values. Similarly, product marketing manager Taylor Wong found success by embracing her status as a member of the company’s core demographic. Initially hesitant to speak in meetings, she discovered that senior colleagues actively sought her Gen Z perspective, turning her demographic identity into a professional asset that led to three internship extensions and a full-time offer.
