The transition from an editorial assistant in New York to a self-employed writer was not part of a grand strategy. While working at publications like Ladies' Home Journal and Self, Sinrich found herself craving the authorship she had long admired from afar. Despite warnings from her mentor about the instability of independent work, she quit her position to pursue a freelance career. The gamble paid off quickly: within two years, she was writing for 20 outlets and earning nearly four times her original $30,000 salary.
The trajectory shifted again in 2018 when her husband lost his job, prompting a move to her hometown near Boston. This relocation proved transformative as she navigated the challenges of three pregnancies and two miscarriages. These personal trials redirected her professional focus toward advocacy and community building, leading her to co-found the Miscarriage Movement and The Mother Chapter. While her daily life in a quiet house with three children bears little resemblance to the bustling New York magazine office she once envisioned, Sinrich maintains that the core of her work—telling women's stories—remains unchanged.
