Noa Argamani on finding resilience after 246 days in captivity

Held in a tiny room for 246 days, Noa Argamani clung to a singular, unwavering resolve: she would return home. Kidnapped during the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel, the former student survived by finding gratitude in the smallest comforts—a sock, a blanket, or half a liter of water.

Speaking at Business Insider’s "The Long Play" event, Argamani described how she maintained her mental fortitude while hearing rockets and bombs explode around her. This optimism now serves as her guiding philosophy, a way to assess the cards she is dealt each morning and play them to the best of her ability. She credits this mindset for helping her navigate a life that was irrevocably altered by her time in captivity.

Before her abduction, Argamani was a third-year AI student with ambitions to become a software engineer or founder. Upon her return, she pivoted toward venture capital, joining Vine Ventures as head of platform. Working alongside managing partner Eric Reiner—who previously aided her efforts to advocate for fellow hostages—she now focuses on AI, cybersecurity, and defense tech. She views this career shift as a dual mission: building her professional future while strengthening Israel’s security through economic growth. For Argamani, the stage is no longer just a place to recount her survival, but a platform to actively shape what comes next.
