Anthropic introduces AI audit tools to track corporate spending

Corporate managers now have a direct line into employee AI habits through Anthropic’s new smart reports. The tool analyzes Claude Enterprise session transcripts to categorize team workflows, measure output value, and calculate costs, providing organizations with a detailed breakdown of how their AI budget is being consumed.

The feature allows businesses to run up to 10 reports per month, covering a 28-day window of activity. By processing samples of chat transcripts, the system assigns tasks to specific workstreams and flags sessions categorized as off-topic or lacking professional value. Anthropic explicitly warns that these insights are intended for investment planning and adoption analysis, rather than as a mechanism for evaluating individual worker performance or personnel decisions.

Privacy protections remain a core component of the rollout. The company stated that discussions involving sensitive topics—such as health, religion, or union activity—are restricted to aggregate data and excluded from individual summaries. This move aligns with broader industry trends as firms like Goldman Sachs tighten access to AI coding assistants, balancing the push for productivity against the financial and operational risks associated with unregulated chatbot usage.
