Michael Wirth
Michael K. (Mike) Wirth is an American business executive who has been serving as the chairman of the board and chief executive officer ofChevron Corporationsince 2018. With a career spanning over three decades at Chevron, Wirth has held various leadership positions within the company.
Wirth's journey at Chevron began in 1982when he joined as a design engineer. Throughout his career, he has contributed significantly to the company's success and growth.He served as executive vice president of Downstream & Chemicals from 2006 to 2015, where he played a key role in managing Chevron's downstream operations and overseeing the chemicals business.From 2003 to 2006, Wirth served as president of Global Supply and Trading, demonstrating his expertise in the trading and supply of energy resources.
In 2016, Wirth became executive vice president of Midstream & Development, responsible for Chevron's shipping, supply and trading, pipeline, and power operating units, as well as strategy, business development, and corporate affairs. This role highlighted his strategic acumen and ability to drive the company's growth and development initiatives.
Prior to his executive positions, Wirth held various roles of increasing responsibility within Chevron. He holds a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Colorado.
Beyond Chevron,Wirth serves on the board of directors of Catalyst, a leading nonprofit organization focused on advancing women in the workplace.
